How to Layer Skincare Products the Right Way
The Art of Layering Skincare
Applying your skincare products in the right order can make the difference between a routine that works and one that falls flat. The golden rule? Apply products from thinnest to thickest consistency, allowing each layer to absorb before the next.
Step 1: Cleanser
Always start with a clean canvas. A gentle cleanser removes dirt, oil, and impurities so your subsequent products can penetrate effectively.
Step 2: Toner or Essence
Toners and essences prep the skin to better absorb what comes next. They help balance pH levels and provide an initial layer of hydration.
Step 3: Serum
This is where targeted treatment happens. Apply your serum while skin is still slightly damp for maximum absorption. Pat gently — never rub.
Step 4: Eye Cream
The delicate skin around the eyes needs special attention. Use your ring finger to gently tap eye cream along the orbital bone.
Step 5: Moisturizer
Seal everything in with a moisturizer that suits your skin type. This locks in all the active ingredients from your previous steps.
Step 6: SPF (AM) or Face Oil (PM)
In the morning, finish with SPF. At night, a nourishing face oil can be the final step to deeply hydrate and repair skin while you sleep.
GlowBelle's Tip
Consistency is key. Give your routine at least 4–6 weeks to show results, and introduce new products one at a time so you can track what works for your skin.
